We’ve been experiencing occasional flashbacks in one of our DLN (Dry Low NOx) combustors. It’s inconsistent but happens mostly during load changes. What’s your go-to strategy for diagnosing and mitigating flashbacks?
First thing—check your fuel system! Variations in gas pressure during load changes can cause flashbacks. Make sure your pressure regulators are functioning correctly and set up real-time monitoring for any dips.
Agree with @PowerTechSam. Also, look at your fuel-air ratio during transient loads. Poor mixing can cause localized hotspots that trigger flashbacks. Have you checked for carbon buildup in the fuel nozzles? That’s a common issue we’ve seen.
Don’t forget to review your flame detectors. Malfunctioning sensors can lead to incorrect adjustments in fuel flow, causing instability. We’ve had success using higher-sensitivity sensors for faster detection.
